The Best Nest

Here are some of the rice krispie nests we made last week to go along with Colin’s letter of the week that he was learning, “N is for nest.” Since “N” handily fell on the same month as Easter, we also managed to find some candy eggs to fit in the nests.

She certainly didn't help much in the making, just the eating!

And then we found a real nest hidden well within our sapling outside–with baby birds inside! What a wonderful moment of discovery! It’s hard to see the nest or birds, but here they are. Caleb drew the nest for his nature study journal today. He’s excited to try to find more nests around the area now!

It's in there, really!

Hard to see, but his finger points the way.

I asked him if he could see the babies, and he said that he thought he did, and it looked like their father was a crow, and their mother was a robin! 🙂

My little baby bird.

Looks like he sat in a nest himself.

    What perfect timing!

Have you read “Albert” by Donna Jo Napoli to the kids yet? It is our absolute favorite bird story!
